When examining a topic like globalization, it is really fairly easy to find an example of this in our world today, and it is getting increasingly easier.  If the definition of globalization we look at is “Increasing interconnectedness of people and places through converging processes of economic, political, and cultural change,” then I think we can all agree that it has spiked in the last 50 years.  This is a trend that is increasing due to demands in foreign markets and labor and resources in foreign lands utilized by multinational corporations, improved travel, and communication.  It is said that people can go anywhere in there world in about 36 hours maximum which certainly would not have been the case even 20 years ago, and some of the largest companies are recognized almost anywhere in the world.  All you really have to do to truly grasp the effects of globalization in your life is to look at the products you purchase everyday, and see where they were made.
I believe this image expresses the idea of globalization extremely well because of the reason that it embodies all the key points discussed above.  This McDonald's with Arabic writing underneath shows a company that has its roots in the United States transcending any political or geographical issues and increasing how people in the world find themselves connected.  People who walk into this fast food resturant are the same in that way as any American who would do the same in this way.  Sure the menu may be a little different, some of the prices, and so forth but just the idea that out of the estimated 195 countries in the world, 119 of them have a McDonald's is astounding.  This corporation is a prime example of how the economy has driven and will continue to drive globalization around us.
